ARTIST’S BACKGROUND

I have been a studio glass artist for 12 years.
Finished MA from Royal College of Art in 2001. Short-listed for Jerwood prize in 2003. I have a studio in north London where I make one off pieces for exhibitions. Work held in public collections:- V&A London, Contemporary Art Society UK, Musee de Sars - Poterics France & Glasmuseum Alter Hof Herding Germany.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

Whilst at the RCA in 2000, I became aware of the link between developments in science & how it was being applied to nature, in genetic modification, cloning &mutation. My work continues to reflect my thoughts about the more sinister side of these new cell technologies. By using only clear glass & neutral colours I am able to emphasise form, texture & structure. My method of working; lost wax casting, requires a high degree of technical skill & my aim is to combine skill with sculptural ambition. I am trying to create pieces which have a sense of beauty, but which also have a quality about them which makes them slightly strange & disturbing, with a lurking sense of unease.
