ARTIST’S STATEMENT
My cast work is influenced by an interpretation of found sculpture, relics retrieved from hidden places. The glass is left roughly polished in places and inclusions of copper wire turn the glass iridescent; movement held quietly in restraint.
My fused work is influenced by nature and in contrast is mysterious and playful.
With my later work I have been experimenting with pate de verre frits. Following a visit to the Moctezuma Aztec exhibition at the British Museum I used a pyramid form, open casting using layers of colour on a low firing, to retain the sugary effect, Currently I am using a higher firing with clear Bullseye and pate de verre frit with inclusions of thin copper sheeting to cast snow mountains; this time influenced by Austrian mountains.
