ARTIST’S BACKGROUND

I started studying glass at Richmond . After experimenting with a variety of glass making methods, I have concentrated most on lost wax casting and making open cast moulds. I plan to continue working in these ways while also exploring further the techniques of fusing and slumping.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

Having been drawn to glass since childhood, I wanted to rediscover my creativity by designing and making glass forms myself. Through my work I have tried to produce pieces, which people not only wish to look at but also want to touch. I have particularly enjoyed the interplay between textured glass and glass that is transparent and smooth. From the beginning I have been inspired by shapes found in the natural world, particularly fruit and vegetables, and as a consequence have developed an unexpected passion for brassicas!
