ARTIST'S STATEMENT
As a painter I am fascinated by the reflective qualities of light on flowing water contrasted with the darker hues of the deeper still depths below. Using glass as a medium allows me to continue to explore these same qualities. I have produced dynamic fused panels, some based on nature, some abstract. I am now concentrating on casting glass. I am exploring themes based on my love of nature and concern for the environment, as well my interest in artefacts from ancient cultures. CONTACT janelyons222@yahoo.co.uk |
ARTIST'S BACKGROUND
For some years Jane has exhibited atmospheric seascape and riverscape paintings. She enjoys painting water - from the chaotic seas of Cornwall to the sleepy rivers of Surrey. She recently extended this love of water to include a love of glass. Via a short diversion into stained glass, she arrived at the Richmond Art School’s department for kiln-formed glass. There, for the last three years, she has immersed herself in workshops and two BTEC courses studying the techniques of fusing, slumping, casting and pâte de verre.
