ARTIST'S STATEMENT

Janet's work was inspired by walks along the River Thames where she studied the reflections on the river; picking up odd stones from the river bed at low tide; looking at the shapes forming Richmond Bridge at dusk; ambling along a beach in Sussex, collecting stones and tins; gathering pieces of coral and volcanic stones found on beaches in the Greek islands. Sketching in small notebooks; working in clay, wax and various other ways to catch the form and shape, she sought to find new techniques to transform these ideas into glass - always trying to capture an illusive moment in time.
