ARTIST'S BACKGROUND
My careers have varied from that of ballet dancing to managing a mental health day centre. In 1999 I obtained a BA Hons degree in Fine Art at Farnham College. Since then I have gained an HNC and an HND in Glass Design at Richmond College of Art. I live in both France and England and have exhibited in both countries.
ARTIST'S STATEMENT
My work is in response to the changing state of the world which often results in natural disasters. I was especially affected by the Asian Tsunami which devastated such enormous costal areas including parts of Sri Lanka, my childhood homeland. I was struck by the televised images we saw of the sea pulling away from the land and then thundering forward to drag people, animals and everything within range out to sea. I use both human and marine shapes to create my transmuted forms.
