ARTIST’S BACKGROUND
I studied stained glass at Hounslow Adult Education, where the teacher encouraged us to experiment with glass fusing in a small kiln. This opened up a whole new way to work with my favorite medium - glass, and I started to attend classes at Richmond Adult Community College. The College offered opportunities to experiment using the extensive range of facilities available, and knowledgeable tutors.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I just love the look of glass, and like to explore the versatility of colours and effects possible through glass work. Moving from a stained glass background, working with fusing two dimensional pieces was a natural progression - experimenting with fused and sandblasted pieces in stained glass panels. As I learn more about the properties of glass and techniques of glass 'cold working' an exciting world of possibilities awaits.
Henry Moore's 'totem pole', recently exhibited at Kew Gardens and my love of the rich colours found in amber, inspired my piece 'Pure Amber'.
