ARTIST’S BACKGROUND

I started casting in glass in 2009, learning intially through a series of short courses at the Liquid Glass Centre in Wiltshire, and later at Bullseye Glass in Santa Fe, USA and Northlands Creative Glass in Scotland. I am now a student at Richmond Adult Community College and also work from my studio in Chiswick, West London.
 
ARTIST’S STATEMENT

I create small-scale, cast glass pieces through which I aim to highlight the essence of the glass - its luminance and transparency - alongside the malleability and tactility of softer, more supple materials. This is often characterised by the juxtaposition of polished, satin and highly textured sufaces that emphasise the way that glass sometimes appears solid and sometimes diappears through reflection or transparancy. As well as abstract pieces I am currently working on a series inspired by the representations of human biology presented within medical imaging.
