ARTIST’S BACKGROUND
I am a London based artist, who graduated from Wimbledon School of Art in 1997. Initially I became involved with glass as a medium by working as an assistant to NZ glass artist Ann Robinson. I later joined Richmond College to extend this experience into my own studio
.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Nicola’s work is concerned with the language of semiotics, where the use of ‘sign’ and ‘symbol’ creates a formula of discourse.
Often these sculptures emerge from a phrase, or found object, which by their very nature, lend themselves to larger more involved meanings and interpretations. Repetition of certain elements refers to notions of time passing.
