ARTIST’S STATEMENT

My work references poetry: as poetry the work attempts to express the rhythms and awkwardness of speech, allowing space for the ordinary, the unpolished vernacular. Natural accidents such as fingerprints are visible. The glass pieces show the traces of all ‘working’ marks. In this way the vulnerability of glass as a medium and ultimately of the artist as a creator is exposed. The glass forms are unpolished and have the least possible intervention after the have been removed from each cast.
