ARTIST’S STATEMENT

Siobhan is greatly inspired by light in all it’s different qualities and the part it can play in bringing life to an object. She works exclusively with a high quality glass, which is tested for colour compatibility. The glass is hand cut and arranged, then fused in the kiln with occasional copper inclusions creating unique ‘one off’ pieces.

Shaping thin canes of glass, layering colour and the positioning of the glass creates additional decoration. Some pieces are then returned to the kiln to slump in a mould to form vessels.
The latest pieces are two dimensional wall installations, a contemporary alternative to the traditional picture proving popular to both the corporate and private sector.

Siobhan’s work can be used for many applications; her commissions to date include room partitions, tables, and windows. Housing some of Siobhan’s commissions are venues such as cruise liners, libraries and bars.
