ARTIST'S STATEMENT
The textures provided by nature and human invention are usually present in my work. I also love the contrasts between matt and gloss, smooth and rough, light and dark, hard and soft. I create small cast pieces as well as vessels, platters and jewellery. CONTACT suherbertglass@gmail.com |
ARTIST'S BACKGROUND
I first studied kiln-formed glass at Missenden Abbey before enrolling at Richmond School of Art, where I have been lucky enough to study under a number of internationally renowned glass artists, and gained several certificated qualifications.
I am a founder member of The Just Glass Society and exhibit with the group. I was elected Chair of Just Glass in 2006, resigning that position in 2015 and currently serve on the Committee as Secretary. Until 2022, I organised the Just Glass Biennial Seminar, now a regular event in the national studio glass calendar. I am also a member of the Contemporary Glass Society.
