ARTIST’S BACKGROUND
My background is in sculpture and stained glass, having a BA Hons in fine art and having worked in commercial stained glass for a number of years. Throughout this time Richnmond College has featured regularly in my training as an artist. This course has helped me to develop my own personal work after a break in my career, and attracted me for two reasons: it produced exciting, contemporary studio glass and students can come into it at any level.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
The work on display in 'Trial of Glass' is a result of my efforts to extend my control over the materials used - particularly texture. It also represents an attempt to refine striking, simple designs of the types found in some oriental art and in western art of the fifties and sixties.
