ARTIST'S STATEMENT
I draw inspiration from both rural and urban environments. My work celebrates vibrant colour and intricate texture, with bright hues and patterns that characterize my creations. My artistic journey is ever evolving as I experiment with glass, involving meticulous placement and multiple firings to infuse textures and inspirations into each piece. Recently, I have integrated functionality into my art by designing backlit light panels, transforming my glass wall flowers into functional pieces. Through my work, I aim to evoke a sense of wonder and delight, encouraging viewers to explore the interplay of colour, light, and texture. My hope is that each piece serves as a vibrant focal point, bringing energy and beauty into the spaces they inhabit. ARTIST'S BACKGROUND
My interest in glass properly developed during lockdown in 2022. My mum was originally a potter for 50 + years and then switched over to fused glass in her mid-late 70’s when prepping clay became difficult. Sadly, my mum’s health declined whilst she was living in Somerset and I was living in Bucks, so I moved her to be nearer to me so I could look after her. This is when I had the opportunity to explore fused glass and make use of the pottery equipment. I decided to invest in as much online training as possible and was instantly hooked. I now teach in the evenings and weekends alongside my full time job and have exhibited at various exhibitions including London Piccadilly and RHS Wisley. I have recently designed and commissioned a company to make my lit up back panels for my wall flowers, turning them into functionable art.
