ARTIST'S STATEMENT My body of work reflects my passion for colour, pattern and texture. Natural forms and observational drawings inspire my collections and individual artworks. Each piece is handmade using a combination of contemporary processes and heritage craft techniques, ensuring that every work is unique. I create work for selected galleries and participate in quality artisan markets throughout the year. My pieces are also available through my online shop, where I accept commissions for personalised, one-off artworks that reflect individual stories and ideas. I also undertake selected repair and restoration work. Alongside my established collections, I am developing a new series of one off art pieces inspired by personal events and experiences through psychotherapy. These pieces explore memory, emotion and the significance of individual moments, translating them into tactile, colourful and deeply personal artworks. Through my practice, I celebrate craftsmanship, individuality and the enduring connection between materials, memories and the natural world. ARTIST'S BACKGROUND
Based in South Leicestershire, I have worked with glass over 40 years. After graduating from Swansea College of Art in 1988 with an HND in Architectural Stained Glass, I spent 18 months working in Japan with stained-glass artist Kuni Kajiwara, followed by a year travelling, meeting and working with glass artists in Australia.
After retraining, I taught Art, Design & Technology in secondary education from 1994 until 2020, when I returned to glass full time. I began working with fused glass in 2011 and have since developed a practice exploring colour, pattern and texture, inspired by natural forms and observational drawing.
My professional development includes specialist courses in glass painting, kiln firing and reactive glass. I am currently combining stained and fused glass techniques to create a series of pieces inspired by personal experiences, one of which was recently selected for the Fifteen x Fifteen Exhibition at Blowfish Gallery, Stourbridge.
