ARTIST'S STATEMENT
I am inspired by concepts and art that are unbounded by convention. I am inspired by people, politics, nature, beauty, ugliness. I am inspired by colour, light, darkness, shadows. I am inspired by the mundane, the ordinary, the extraordinary. I am inspired by struggle, challenge, success, failure. I am inspired by Life. CONTACT Instagram : - GaryFovargue |
ARTIST'S BACKGROUND
I don’t consider myself an artist in the traditional sense, my career is fairly conventional from apprentice electrician to IT consultant, I came to art late in life but looking back I’ve always made things. I guess like most children it starts with Lego, from there the list of stuff that has been constructed, modified, painted or pulled apart is long.
Pushbikes cut up and reassembled, Skateboards built, cut, modified and reformed, Motorbikes cut up to be lighter and slicker.
Cushion covers converted to punk jackets, Doctor Martens boots decorated to be much more colourful.
Aviaries built to house my parent’s collection of colourful birds. House walls decorated with images from record covers.
Concrete furniture formed, ground and polished, Train set scenery to satisfy my own childrens playtime.
Garden furniture to satisfy my desire to weld metals and play with wood
