ARTIST'S STATEMENT
I have combined my love of the sea with my love of working with glass to form the basis of my marine-based glass work. I have produced some panels and open cast pieces which highlight the effects of plastic waste on marine life in the sea. My recent work is a series of multi-layered glass sculptures. These have painted images of plastic bottles floating among marine life painted onto glass sheets fused together to form blocks to achieve a 3D effect. I am continuing to work on marine based themes, exploring rock formations and rock pools. CONTACT [email protected] |
ARTIST'S BACKGROUND
I started attending classes in kiln formed glass at the Clifden Centre (which was part of RHACC) where I experienced many different glass techniques. I achieved passes in BTEC level 1 in surface decoration in 2013 and BTEC level 2 in 3D Design in 2014.
At Richmond Art School (RHACC), I attended the Advanced Practice glass course and exhibited my work at three exhibitions. I also exhibited my work at Just Glass Society exhibitions and had two pieces of my marine glass works included in the Just Glass book 'Brought to Light' (2022). I made a series of painted fused glass panels depicting sea birds affected by pollution. I then made a series of panels and open cast pieces which show the prevalence and longevity of plastic waste in the sea.
