ARTIST'S STATEMENT
I am interested in landscape and in particular, as a keen walking, travelling through landscapes. In my work I am trying to capture the feeling of passing through a landscape by using light and depth in my work. I make glass blocks by stacking multiple layers of glass to create a three dimensional image. These blocks are then cut and polished and arranged in tableaux so that as you walk past them they appear to move as the light catches the different planes of glass. Recently inspired by Wainwright's illustrated walking guides to the Lake District I have been making ‘books’ in glass these are formed by multiple firings, fusing and slumping the separate elements together. |
ARTIST'S BACKGROUND
After a career in Architecture and education I discovered glass at evening classes at the university of Hertfordshire and, like many others became addicted to glass. I explored different techniques including, fusing kiln casting, and sand casting. I have exhibited in numerous galleries in England and Wales including The British Glass Biennale 2017 and 2019 where I was awarded the Warm Glass Peoples Prize. I work from a small studio in my garden in North London
