ARTIST'S STATEMENT
My main concept is to juxtapose nature with the man-made, to represent their connection and confrontation. From my observations, reflections and imaginings of the natural environment, I attempt to capture elements and qualities of the aesthetics from the biology of plants in the work, creating a narrative to evoke something significant from natures’ transformation, transience and fragility; to recall something significant from these elements through the documenting of natures changes. Currently I have been carrying out a series of investigations, experimenting with different glass making techniques developing kiln formed glass, lamp working processes and also incorporating printing imagery motifs with a primary theme of textures and forms from nature. ARTIST'S BACKGROUND
As an artist, practitioner and educator in glass. I practice a wide range of techniques, including kiln-forming – meaning fusing, slumping and casting – as well as cold-working, architectural glass, and screen-printing on glass. I have substantial training and experience within arts and design. As a consequence, I approach my 2D and 3D work in ways that are creative, constructive, inquisitive and exploratory. Throughout my career, I have never stopped exploring new ideas using glass and mixed media, and new fusions of art and design.
