ARTIST'S STATEMENT
My work is concerned with time and memory: the fleeting and transitory, absence and displacement, identity and loss. I have chosen glass as my primary medium because of the wide range of lyrical messages it can convey and use a variety of techniques to express ideas which originate in a practical and poetic sense from its properties: strength, resilience, transparency and reflection. I am drawn to the melancholy and beauty of cemeteries, which encompass the aesthetics and concepts of my work. Recent works deal with collective and individual identity: lost feathers and discarded wings provide traces of a journey made and remnants left behind. CONTACT www.philippabeveridge.com |
