ARTIST'S STATEMENT
I aim to explore the influence of boundary conditions in fluid flow systems by introducing sharp discontinuities by means of rods and stringers in cold glass and running the fusing process. This often results in trapped air thus introducing further boundary conditions. In addition the use of colour shades has lead to development of different rhythms and cadences across and through the body of the glass. Tessellation of multiple sub units thus formed, into larger patterns gives rise to the possibility of deploying various types of symmetry to increase interest and sometimes produce illusions of 3D structure in otherwise flat pieces CONTACT [email protected] |
ARTIST'S BACKGROUND
I have come from an engineering background with no formal artistic training. In the last few years, an introduction to working with glass has sparked the creative urge and desire to see what application of my digital engineering skills can bring to the world of glass art. To this end I embrace 3D printing ( I built my own printer) and procedural CAD programming as constructional aids and inspiration in my work.
I am thoroughly bitten by the glass bug, there is something about the stuff that is both frustrating and very moreish!
